A Safe Space for Healing
Your journey to well-being begins here. At Laura Mackle Integrative Therapy, we offer trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming counselling in Downpatrick, Co. Down. Let's work together to foster your growth and resilience. Welcome to a space where you are understood and supported.
My Approach
As an integrative therapist, I work from a few therapeutic models to best meet your individual needs. At the centre my work is heavily person centred, which means I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you are at the heart of the process. I also integrate elements of psychodynamic therapy to help explore how your past experiences may be shaping your present, as well as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) tools to support practical change and emotional regulation.
My approach is always trauma-informed, acknowledging the profound impact trauma can have on your sense of safety, relationships, and self-worth.
I have experience working with neurodivergent individuals, including those who are autistic or ADHD, and I strive to offer an inclusive, flexible space where your communication style, sensory needs, and way of processing are respected and understood.
My background includes working in a variety of settings such as in prisons, schools, and community organisations. With people from all walks of life. I’ve supported clients around a wide range of issues, including addiction, abuse, bereavement, relationships, trauma, and more. Whatever you're facing, I offer a compassionate, collaborative approach that meets you where you are.

About Me
Well, my name is Laura, and I’m a qualified integrative counsellor and an accredited registrant of the NCPS.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over a decade working in operational management roles and, more recently, have supported survivors of sexual abuse and complex trauma. I now also work with a local counselling service and provide school based counselling for children and young people.
Alongside my professional training, I bring lived experience to this work. I understand how overwhelming life can feel at times, especially when trying to hold everything together for others. This has shaped my practice deeply, and I aim to create a space where people feel safe enough to let the mask drop and be exactly as they are.
I know how vulnerable it can feel to reach out for support. If you're reading this and unsure whether counselling is right for you, you're not alone. I'm always happy to have a short, informal chat to see if we might be a good fit.
